About Us

Barsuglia Farms was founded back in 1949 by Walter Barsuglia. Walter started growing basic crops like green beans, cucumbers and sweet potatoes. Then in 1952, Maurice Barsuglia Sr. and his wife Elaine joined Walter in the farming operation. In time, they expanded the crops being raised to include lettuce, eggplant, and peppers. Maurice Sr. started looking for ways to improve his crops by experimenting with plastic mulch and drip irrigation. He continued to look for ways to grow the best quality produce until his passing in 1982.

In 1983, at the age of 26, Maurice Barsuglia Jr along with his mother Elaine and sister Debbie, took over the farming operations after his father’s passing. Taking the lessons learned and possessing his father’s passion for quality, Maurice Jr. expanded the operation by procuring more land and by expanding the varieties of produce being grown. He also implemented computerized soil moisture programs along with drip irrigation techniques to conserve water and energy, improving the quality of every package being sold.
