Agricultural land considered for development at Pea Ridge


PEA RIDGE – Planners will begin the February planning commission with a public hearing to consider two rezoning applications for multi-family agricultural properties to be rezoned.

The meeting, which is open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Both properties are on Greer Street. One, 27 acres owned by Delores Wilkerson, is located at 650 Greer Street. A 50-acre parcel sits at the corner of Lee Town Road and Greer Street. It is owned by Kinley Miller.

Residential 3 is a high-density zoning neighborhood that provides for multi-family development and is characterized by traditional apartment-type units in adjoining apartment complexes, according to the city’s zoning code. Row or terraced housing is also planned in this area. One to four storey apartment buildings are permitted.

There are currently two R3 zoned plots in the city – one on Ryan Road / Slack as part of Pea Ridge Commons and one on Hazelton Road across from Hazelton Heights, according to city officials.

A public hearing is required by law to allow landowners and other members of the public to comment on the submitted request.

The rezoning requests will be studied in the new business by the members of the Planning Commission.

Other items on the agenda include:

• Application to occupy the home, 401 Grace Court, by Jeff and Rachel Rice;

• Preliminary dish, Pea Ridge Commons, Slack Street / Ryan Road; and

By the Regulatory Council:

• Request for exemption, 602 Oakley Street, 6 foot frontage and 595 square foot land area, Williams Law, for less land than required by city ordinance.
