Deadline Approaches for Applications for County Agricultural District No. 5

UTICA – The Oneida County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Council will conclude its eight-year review required by New York State’s Certified Agricultural District 5.

District 5 includes properties in the towns of Kirkland, New Hartford, Westmoreland and Whitestown.

This is a voluntary program and applications should be submitted by Thursday, March 31 to the Oneida County Planning Department, 321 Main St., Utica, NY 13501.

Residents who previously owned their land in a state-certified agricultural district received a letter and application for renewal. Properties that have changed owners also received the same information.

New owners must return their application in order to continue to be included in a New York State Certified Agricultural District.

Applications can be downloaded from:

The Oneida County Farmland Guardian Board is extremely interested in advancing the Agricultural District Program and maintaining it as a viable part of the Oneida County agricultural scene.

If you live in one of these cities and have not received notification but would like to participate in this program, contact Remi Link, Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida at 315-736-3394 x111 or [email protected] or Matt Pawlusik, Oneida County Planning Department at 315-798-5710.
