J&K LG praised for change in agricultural land use

Jammu, Dec 18 (UNI) The Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir Dialogue on Economic Growth and Development (LEAD) on Saturday hailed Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for approving the land use change to from agricultural to non-agricultural purposes.

LEAD members appreciated the much needed bylaws now developed and approved by the UT administration.

“This will now facilitate many new investment opportunities in the region, new industries and new services will bring a large amount of new employment opportunities for young people,” they said in a statement.

The Central Sector Scheme incentives for promoting new investments are already in place. But the availability of land for new businesses has always been a concern.

The new rules will give a big boost to the investment scenario in Jammu and Kashmir, the statement said.

Sunil Shah, director of LEAD, said the teams will now travel across the country and invite investors to start large-scale businesses.

A delegation of LEAD members also met with Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Trade, on reform and other initiatives to promote new investments. Thakur assured members that the UT government would solve any problems.
